Love Him most

Love Him first

the rest will fall in place

God is so amazing -- the way He loves us is incredible!!!!

I had a need that was so outlandish I didn't even try asking God to intervene in a big way.  I figured we would tackle the problem together the slow long way.

Well wouldn't you know, without even a word of asking from me, God intervened in a big way!

What's even more, I know I am undeserving.
And yet - God loves me even when I feel undeserving.

Jesus loves me, this I know
For the Bible tells me so
Little ones to him belong
They are weak, but He is strong

Yes Jesus loves me
Yes Jesus loves me
Yes Jesus loves me
The Bible tells me so!

And now for something completely different . . .

EVOLUTION OF TEACHING MATH SINCE 1950

Last week I purchased a burger and fries at McDonalds for $3.58.  The counter girl took my $4.00 and I pulled 8 cents from my pocket and gave it to her. She stood there, holding the nickel and 3 pennies. While looking at the screen on her register, I sensed her discomfort and tried to tell her to just give me two quarters, but she hailed the manager for help. While he tried to explain the transaction to her, she stood there and cried. Why do I tell you this?

Because of the evolution in teaching math since the 1950s...........

Teaching Math In 1950
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100.
His cost of production is 4/5 of the price.
What is his profit?

Teaching Math In 1960

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100.
His cost of production is 4/5 of the price, or $80.
What is his profit?

Teaching Math In 1970
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100.
His cost of production is $80.
Did he make a profit?

Teaching Math In 1980
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100.
His cost of production Is $80 and his profit is $20
Your assignment: Underline the number 20.

Teaching Math In 1990
A logger cuts down a beautiful forest because he is selfish and inconsiderate and cares nothing for the habitat of animals or the preservation of our woodlands. He does this so he can make a profit of $20.
What do you think of this way of making a living?
Topic for class participation after answering the question: How did the birds and
squirrels feel as the logger cut down their homes?
(There are no wrong answers.)

Teaching Math In 2006
Un ranchero vende una carretera de maderapara $100.
El cuesto de la produccion era $80.
Cuantos tortillas se puede comprar?

Foundations

My coworker posts a silly “every holiday you could ever think of” calendar. It has the lesser known celebrations like “talk like a pirate day” and “world food day” and “emergency nurses day.” Well, today is “Evaluate Your Life Day.” He looked at the calendar and then he looked at me and in a dissatisfied tone evaluated his life as “A mess.”

I just smiled at him. And giggled to myself. Some of you are familiar with a an entertaining chant – maybe it’s already going through your head …

“If I weren’t a Christian, this is what I’d be! If I weren’t a Christian, a    (fill in the blank)    I would be” The chant is acted out with much silliness and chaos, as a variety of alternatives are presented. And then the closing line to chant is “If I weren’t a Christian, this is what I’d be! If I weren’t a Christian, a MESS I would be!”

It’s interesting that he knows it. I would say, of the people who work here, his life is one of the most orderly. He’s got stable work, a good wife, grown kids, a few cats. He clips coupons and evaluates his weekend errands based on the best price for filling his gas tank and grocery cart.

And yet his heart tells him his life is a mess.

It’s not about the order in your life, the structure, or the schedule that you keep.

It’s all about Christ as your solid foundation.

Happy Evaluate Your Life Day!

Some days are cloudy and it's hard to see the sun.

Some days are dreary and it's hard to see the Son.

"Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know."  -- God (Jer 33:3)

I know He's there

:D

... is that a ray of Light, piercing the darkness?  I think I'm seeing more clearly already!
